I started practicing yoga as a means to cope with the challenges of full-time work and study. Being environmentally and hygiene conscious, I grew frustrated with the condition of my branded yoga mat. Most mats are made of plastic and toxic dyes. After a few sessions, they become a breeding ground for bacteria and odour. And they ultimately end up in a landfill. So I researched natural materials which were both eco friendly, biodegradable and suited the rigours of a regular practice. Cork was one of the materials that stuck out and after a few months of trial and error, Valka Yoga was born.
