The Tauranga Farmers Market is an incorporated society and was established 8 years ago. The Market’s Birthday celebrations are held in May each year. It’s purpose is to enable food growers and producers to sell directly to the customer. This also gives the customer the opportunity to meet and question the grower or producer about their product.
In the last few years, there has been a growing awareness of where our food comes from, and how far it has travelled (food miles) and what chemicals and methods have been used in growing that food.
The popularity of Farmers Markets is a worldwide phenomenon and a fantastic asset to Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty. The Tauranga Farmers Market is affiliated to New Zealand Farmers Market Inc.
