The Bay of Islands Farmers’ Market supports growers and producers from all over Northland. The stallholder must be either the owner of the business or someone who is involved in producing the food being offered for sale.
Stallholders enjoy and take pride in talking directly with the end user of their product – not only can you be assured that the information that you are given about the product is accurate and informative, but you can purchase in the knowledge that the food is as fresh as it can be, often harvested or made on market day.
The Bay of Islands Farmers’ Market, which celebrates its 7th birthday in 2011, is one of the biggest in the country with almost 80 currently approved stallholders – not bad with a population base of about 10,000. A reason for the size is the great variety of local produce that grows in our temperate climate and the enthusiastic and creative artisan producers who make the most of this bounty.
The Bay of Islands Farmers’ Market is run by the Bay of Islands Food Group Incorporated whose Executive Committee is elected from members who are market stallholders.
